Manuela Piemonte (Milan, 1978) is an Italian writer.
She writes and has written and translated stories as a screenwriter, writer and consultant in the film, tv and publishing industry. Sometimes she translates books. Her debut novel Le Amazzoni was published in Italy (Rizzoli, 2021), The Netherlands (Ambo|Anthos), France (Robert Laffont) and Portugal (Porto Editora). It won the Kilhgren-Malvasi prize for debut novels and it was short listed at the Acqui Storia prize. In 2024 she published the short story collection Le ciclopi (Nutrimenti), an array of portraits of women living in an unstable contemporary world.
Her other short stories have appeared on Giallo Mondadori, Linus, Cattedrale, Subway edizioni, Subway tabloid and the literary magazine Storie.
She translates fiction from English and Spanish to Italian.
She is an alumna of RACCONTI #7, TorinoFilmLab, Zurich Film Festival and Biennale College Theatre. After a degree in Screenwriting at the Milano Civica Cinema School, she trained in a number of workshops all over Europe and she has developed and written tv series projects in Italy and abroad. She was a script consultant for the digital series #GOLDFISH by Giacomo Arrigoni produced by Discovery Channel Italy in 2018.
She has been a ghostwriter in children’s and YA books.
